There are two bands using the name The Laurels: (1) A shoegaze band from Sydney, Australia, and (2) a doo-wop band from from Brooklyn NY formed around 1959. (1) Formed in Sydney's inner-Westside in 2006,The Laurels share a range of visions and influences extending from sonic pioneers The Velvet Underground to the pure shoegaze bliss of My Bloody Valentine, the inner city filth of Australian legends The Saints and the trance-like psychedelia of Spacemen 3, all the way back to the lush pop harmonies of The Beatles.
