Wig was formed in 1989 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After two releases on Nocturnal Records, the band parted ways with singer Preston Cleveland (P.W. Long). They played as a trio for a while as a purely instrumental band, then met up with new singer Clark Nova. The band sooned signed with Polydor. Their first album for Polydor, Deliverance, would be moved to Island Records, due to restructuring at the label. It was released in 1994 and the band toured extensively in support of the album.
