Britt Pernille Frøholm was born in Hornindal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. She is educated at Ole Bull Academy and Rauland Academy (MA in Traditional Arts). In addition to a solid musical education, she was born into a family that has nurtured traditional music and has brought many musicians into the world, and she has played the fiddle from the age of nine. The heritage given by her family, through each generation, goes back to her great-great-grandmother, who would hum dances and tunes.
