Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Prune originally formed in late 1997 as a pop‑quintet seeking to destroy no one. Brothers and band‑mates through their college years, Bill Schwartz, Rich Ives and Wally Schwartz teamed up with Jen Ives and David Lucash to carve out a sound that frankly pleased them. Having played in a variety of local bands throughout the 90s, the songs created with Prune were both loving nods to the music made before and a distinct effort to capture an underlying mood that felt new.
